We've successfully made it through the first few months of 2025. By now, most of us are probably back in the thick of our daily routines, while outside, new life is beginning to bloom. With all these sunny days, there's hardly anything better than pulling down the blinds, grabbing a fizzy cold drink, and throwing on a few anime.

This spring brings both brand-new series and long-awaited sequels. To help you keep track, we've put together a list of 10 fresh anime you won’t want to miss in the coming months.


Devil May Cry

Genre: Action / Horror | Platform: Netflix | Release: April 3

The seasoned veterans among you might fondly remember the 2001 video game series Devil May Cry. Back then, our favorite demon hunter, Dante, went on a revenge mission and discovered the gate to Hell.

Now, the anime is finally here to take you back to that glorious time. In this series, Dante is being hunted by a government organization called Dark Realm Command, or DARKCOM for short - a little nod to Capcom, the company behind the game series. Devil May Cry will be available for streaming on Netflix starting April 3.


Wind Breaker: Season 2

Genre: Adventure | Platform: Crunchyroll | Release: Weekly starting April 4

Wind Breaker introduced us last year to the life of Haruka Sakura, a lone wolf who gets by thanks to his exceptional fighting skills. At his new school, Furin High, he learns that this strength can also be used to stand up against the evil threatening the city. For the first time, Sakura finds true friends who fight alongside him for what's right.

The students of Furin call themselves "Bofurin," which translates to Wind Breaker. Together, this group takes on gangs like the Keel, who made their appearance in the explosive season one finale and gave our heroes a serious challenge. How things continue on that front, you'll find out starting April 4 on Crunchyroll.


Fire Force: Season 3

Genre: Action / Shōnen | Platform: Crunchyroll | Release: Weekly starting April 5

After a five-year break, Fire Force is finally returning. With season 2 ending back in 2020 on a vision of a new era for the Tokyo Empire, it’s high time the series gets the epic finale it deserves. The titular Fire Force is a special unit tasked with fighting so-called “Infernals” - humans who suddenly burst into flames and transform into monstrous beings.

The team is made up of pyrokinetic individuals who not only battle these threats but also seek to uncover the mystery behind spontaneous human combustion. Along the way, they encounter even greater dangers, such as the White Clad - an organization creating artificial Infernals in pursuit of a much higher purpose.

The first half of season 3 will air on Crunchyroll starting on April 5, and the second half will be released in January 2026.


TO BE HERO X

Genre: Superhero / Comedy | Platform: Crunchyroll | Release: Weekly starting April 6

To Be Hero is a Japanese-Chinese comedy series that first premiered in 2016. The third season, To Be Hero X, will be released on April 6 on Crunchyroll.

The season is set in a world where superheroes are created through the trust of their fans. This trust is quantifiable through data, which is displayed on the wrists of aspiring superheroes. If their trust values are high enough, they can gain superpowers, but if the values drop, they lose them. To prevent this, heroes can participate in tournaments every two years, which determine the rankings. At the top of this ranking is the ultimate hero - X.


Lazarus

Genre: Cyberpunk / Action | Station / Platform: Adult Swim's Toonami / Max | Release: April 6

For those looking for something completely fresh, Lazarus is a must-watch.

The story is set in the year 2052, where neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has created a miracle drug called “Hapna.” It eliminates all pain for patients, but with a catch that Dr. Skinner only reveals three years later. All individuals treated with the drug will die three years after the injection - Ouch. A task force called Lazarus is formed to track down Skinner and obtain an antidote.

Lazarus will premiere on April 6 on Adult Swim’s Toonami and will be available to stream online on HBO Max afterward.


One Piece: Egghead Arc Part 2

Genre: Action / Adventure | Platform: Crunchyroll | Release: Weekly starting April 6

Starting April 6 on Crunchyroll, One Piece fans can look forward to the continuation of the Egghead Arc, which marks the beginning of the Final Saga.

On Egghead Island, our pirates encountered the famous scientist Dr. Vegapunk in the first part of the arc. The island itself is a technological marvel, featuring vast, state-of-the-art laboratories where inventions are created that are centuries ahead of their time. As Luffy and his friends dive deeper into this mystery, they also work to piece together the puzzle of the World Government, which has its sights set on the newly crowned Emperor of Pirates, Luffy, and his ally Nico Robin.


My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

Genre: Superhero | Platform: Crunchyroll | Release: Weekly starting April 7

With the final season of My Hero Academia, an era comes to an end this fall. But fans don’t need to be sad, as a spin-off anime of the series will be released starting April 7. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is set five years before the events of the main series.

Instead of following the official students of the academy on their path to becoming heroes, we follow Koichi Haimawari, who uses his quirks to help others, despite not being a licensed hero. When he gets caught up in a confrontation with a group of criminals, he and street artist Kazuho Haneyama are rescued by Knuckleduster, a vigilante. They decide to join him in fighting for the greater good, while skirting the edges of legality.


Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX

Genre: Mecha | Platform: Amazon Prime | Release: Weekly starting April 8

With Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, we are now at the 16th installment of the Gundam franchise. This new anime takes place in an alternate version of the Universal Century timeline, which is the setting for most of the other Gundam animations.

In this new story, we follow Amate Yuzuhira, a high school student living a quiet life. However, her life takes a turn when she meets the war refugee Nyaan and gets pulled into the underground world of Clan Battles, where mobile suits fight against each other. Meanwhile, a Red Gundam, wanted by both the police and the Space Army, appears, piloted by Shuji. Amate helps him escape, plunging herself into a new adventure.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime starting April 8.


Moonrise

Genre: Sci-Fi | Platform: Netflix | Release: April 10

Moonrise is also a completely fresh sci-fi series. The anime premieres on April 10 on Netflix and takes you to a not-too-distant future.

Humanity has succeeded in establishing a world government, which governs the planet's affairs through an international AI network called Sapientia. The inhabitants of Earth follow the AI's guidance and live peaceful lives. It could be perfect, but there's always a catch. Sapientia sends individuals who misbehave straight to the moon, where poverty and injustice spark a war. Amid the chaos is our hero, Jacob Shadow, who isn't exactly fond of the rebels.


Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Season 2

Genre: Superhero / Comedy | Platform: tba | Release: April 13

In the first season of Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, we followed the Divine Dragon Rangers, also known as the Dragon Keepers, in their battle against a monster army that invaded Earth 13 years ago. At least, that's what humanity was led to believe.

In reality, the invaders were defeated within just a few months and are now forced by the Keepers to produce more monstrosities so that our “heroes” can continue to look heroic. However, one monster, Footsoldier D, can no longer tolerate this and begins to infiltrate the organization from within.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Season 2 premieres on April 13th on Japanese television.


Honorable Mentions

There are, of course, many more amazing animes launching this spring.

Among them is Yaiba: Samurai Legend, a reboot of the adventure anime Kenyū Densetsu Yaiba from 1993, which you can watch on Netflix starting April 5.

In From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, you’ll follow the journey of a talented swordsman from a small village, available on Prime Video starting April 5.

Also on April 5, Black Butler continues the Emerald Witch Arc. Join Ciel and Sebastian on Crunchyroll as they venture into a cursed forest in Germany.
